Community members honored at LSS Christmas Evening

The entire community gathered at the National Lithuanian Union of Students (LSS) Christmas Evening on December 12. The evening was dedicated to celebrating the achievements of members and alumni and thanking them for their work.

This year, 9 nominations were awarded, the winners of which were chosen by higher education institutions’ student governments.

Initiative of the Year – VMU SA’s public statement regarding its disagreement with the public potentially pro-Russian statements of the VMU PMDF Dean.

Awarded to the initiative that was most memorable this year for its idea, implementation or impact on the community.

Social Academician of the Year – Saulius Paukštė (VILNIUS TECH SR).

Awarded because this year it was the strongest in the field of social and academic affairs, most actively acted, raised questions and resolved issues relevant to students.

Breakthrough of the Year – ISM SA.

This is the self-government that has improved the most this year, made the most progress and the community is happy that this self-government has become more involved and more actively acted this year than before.

Achievement of the Year – LSMU SA reached an agreement with SAM to increase financial support for nursing students.

Awarded to an important social and organizational achievement, the implementation of which was a long or complicated process, but brought a significant result.

Communication of the year – ISM SA.

This is the student government whose communication this year was the most student-oriented. This student government simply and clearly presents information that is characterized by creativity, originality, and the communication itself is informal, friendly and encourages open communication with students.

Alumni of the Year – Paulius Vaitiekus.

An awarded LSS alumni who has given their whole heart to the organization, got involved in various activities, participated in various initiatives, communicated and was everywhere together.

Mentorship of the Year – Saulius Paukštė (VILNIUS TECH SR) and Andrius Zalitis (LSS).

This is a pair of mentor and mentee who in 2025 created valuable cooperation, established a strong and mutual relationship that encouraged professional and/or personal growth and distinguished themselves with their achieved results.

Student Leader of the Year – Ervin Borkovski (VILNIUS TECH SR).

Awarded because this year he was a true student leader, took the initiative, expressed himself boldly and clearly, and assumed responsibility.

Student government of the Year – LSMU SA.

The student government was awarded for its active work, represented students, resolved relevant and important issues, communicated and cooperated, and is the student government from which one wants to take an example.

During the Christmas Thanksgiving evening, gifts were also collected for children who spend their days in daycare centers. The collected board games, books, stationery and sweets will reach the children’s daycare centers by Christmas.
