Structure

Activities of the Lithuanian National Union of Students are coordinated by:

  • Conference
  • Council
  • Board
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Supervisory Comittee

The Conference is the highest governing body, convened at least once a year. It consists of representatives delegated by full members, who decide on issues such as the approval and amendment of the Union’s statutes and rules of procedure (the main documents on which the organization’s activities are based). The Conference also evaluates the activities of the Student Union, elects the President and members of the Control Committee for a two-year term.

The second main governing body of the organization is the – the Council. It performs all management functions between Conferences and shapes the direction of the Lithuanian Students’ Union’s activities. The Council consists of the President and one representative from each member of the organization.

The Board of the Union leads the organization between Council meetings. It consists of seven persons: The Board consists of 7 (seven) members – the President (ex officio) and 6 (six) current or former members of the full LSS members elected to the Council for a two-year term. The composition of the Board is updated annually by electing 3 (three) members. Board members are elected in accordance with the procedure established by the LSS Regulation. Board members are elected by the full members.

The Board prepares and, having assessed the Council’s conclusion on the draft LSS activity strategy, submits the LSS activity strategy to the Conference for approval, approves the LSS activity plan in accordance with the LSS activity strategy, considers and approves the LSS budget draft, and makes decisions on LSS positions within its competence.

The most important function of the President is to represent the organization. He also directly coordinates the work of the Vice-President and the LSS Office, as well as the financial and economic activities of the Student Union, and is responsible for the development and implementation of the Union’s activity program. According to the organization’s statutes, the President is elected for a two-year term, renewable only once.

Vice President – assists the President in carrying out and organizing the activities of the LSS and performs other functions established in the Statutes. The Vice President may temporarily act as President if granted such authority by the President or the Board.

The Supervisory Committee verifies the legality of the activities of the Student Union and the appropriateness of the use of material resources. The Committee submits a report on the financial activities of the organization to the Conference.
