What is LSIC and why is it important for students?
The Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC) is the only document that confirms a student’s status in Lithuania. It not only proves that you are studying at a higher education institution, but also gives you access to various discounts and higher education institution infrastructure services.
An increasing number of higher education institutions
This year, we are happy to announce that an even greater number of higher education institutions have signed agreements to finance LSICs. This means that even more students will be able to enjoy a free LSIC. When first-year students order their card, they will see in the payment section that they do not need to pay for its production.
This year, as many as 9 higher education institutions are financing LSICs for their first-year students: Kaunas University of Technology, Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution, Klaipėda University, Lithuanian Sports University, General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania, Lietuvos inžinerijos kolegija Higher Education Institution.e and Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija Higher Education Institution.

What if you have already paid?
Students who have already paid for their LSIC even though their higher education institution finances the card do not need to worry – refunds will be processed automatically in November–December. No additional action is required from students.
LSIC vision: digitalisation and internationalisation
The long-term vision for LSIC focuses on several key areas:
Digitalisation. We aim to make the LSIC conveniently accessible in digital format.
Universal funding. We aim for all higher education institutions in Lithuania to finance LSICs for their first-year students.
Integration into higher education infrastructure. We aim to enable students to use their LSIC as a means of accessing various university or college services.
Expansion of discounts. Every year, we expand the LSIC partner network so that students can enjoy an even wider range of opportunities and benefits.
Internationalisation. The Lithuanian Student Identity Card is the most widely integrated student card in Europe. This opens up a wide range of opportunities for students both in Lithuania and abroad – from travel benefits to academic and cultural discounts.
